The Malaga-born tennis player, who will play tomorrow in the round of 16 in Basel against Brooksby, spoke to Marca about his absence from the squad for the competition's Final 8. "David called me a week ago to tell me that I wouldn't be included in the first squad. Before that call, I had already told him to count on me. It will always be an honor for me to represent Spain, but in the end, it was his decision, and I accepted it," he explained about captain Ferrer's squad this Monday.

Davidovich also explains why he believes he should be included in the squad: "Being ranked 18th in the world, I believe I deserved to be among the four best players in my country , with all due respect to my teammates, who, as I said, are also great players."

The Malaga-born tennis player was not included in the previous matches against Switzerland and Denmark by his own choice, something that could have influenced Ferrer's decision. "I missed those qualifiers due to physical problems. However, Davidovich believes that Spain is still one of the favorites to win the Davis Cup.
